One of the stadiums for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the Moses Madhida Stadium in Durban South Africa was completed in 2009, with a seating capacity of 62,760. The Durban Stadium takes its design from the South African flag, now a symbol of unity in this struggling nation

A 350m arch rises above the pitch with tension cables suspending the tent roof structure. The membrane allows 50% of sunlight to pass through. Modern lobbies and organic concrete structure greet the visitor as they proceed to their seats. Views of the city are plentiful from the elevated site. The stadium was designed by gmp-Architekten out of Germany, and is intended to host a variety of activity after the games.
