Men and women have adorned the gladiator sandal, in its simplest form, before records began. Notables such as Julius Caesar, Pythagoras and even Jesus himself sporting the trend – dapper fellas. Fast-forward 2000 years and the gladiator sandal has re-emerged, albeit undoubtedly more popular with the females then us warriors of the wardrobe.

As is the norm with many modern fashion trends, gladiator sandals transcended genders and appeared last summer in what can only be described as a ‘minor trend’. However, with the summer fast approaching this year could well be time for the gladiator sandal.

Lanvin 2011 Spring/Summer Sandals

Lanvin have just released these preview shots of their forthcoming range of sandals which will drop as part of their spring/summer collection for 2011. The French label continues to match sport with luxury aesthetics, with each model in the collection featuring premium materials, blended with durable design elements. Combining a number of fabrics across the range, look out for neoprene and python skins among others. Avant garde French label Surface To Air releases it’s 2011 spring/summer lookbook with looks that stay consistent with each season and the incorporation of new styles and prints. Following the dark hue color trend, muted tones are infused into bomber jackets, suits, chinos, henleys and cuffed shorts. Balmain Spring 2011 Menswear Collection Review

Balmain's Spring/Summer 2011 releases a collection full of edginess and urban-grunge influences over fashion this season. Going mostly for a darker area in chromatic styling, Christophe Decarnin puts an accent on a hidden masculine rough side into his designs.







The Balmain fashion house is one of the leading Parisian labels that was founded by fashion designer Pierre Balmain, the person who took his own brand to a high level in this industry.
