Versace Women Fall Winter 2013-14 Fashion Show

Versace launched “VUNK” Versace’s new punk, as if the spirit of punk was born today. There’s no reference to the past. With “VUNK”, Versace is fearlessly looking forward to a new glamour, and a new rock’n’roll. Extreme proportions create a contrast between shrunken silhouettes and over sized shapes, with no compromise between.

Neil Barrett Spring/Summer 2012 Collection

Neil barett menswear 2011 milan fashion week details shoes bags must have fashion trends izandrew www izandrew blogspot com izandrew001
Tim Blanks review
Coming from a long line of naval tailors, Neil Barrett has the cut in his blood. There is always a military precision in the way he creates new hybrids from his influences. This season, for instance, he blended army fatigues, biker leathers, and the natty houndstooths and herringbones of the 2 Tone ska revival. Then he shrunk and cropped the whole lot to Barrett's signature proportions and sat it on top of chunky cyber-bovver sandals. Some of the combinations looked completely natural, like the tan trench or wool blazer hybridized with a motocross jacket, or the biker vest with the army green cotton back. They were the most convincing. Other pairings were less so. True, within the mandate of the collection, a leather-patched aviator jacket over houndstooth shorts was logical enough. Likewise, the herringbone blouson with the cropped pants.

Bottega Veneta Spring/Summer 2012 Collection

Bottega Veneta menswear 2011 milan fashion week

Tim Blanks review

Anyone who still imagines fashion remains willfully oblivious to current events would probably be surprised to learn that Tomas Maier was inspired by 2011's Arab Spring, when he conceived the latest men's collection for Bottega Veneta. The Arab world's pursuit of democracy got him thinking about the integration of different sartorial traditions in a way that was about genuine synthesis, rather than banal ethnic influences. By the time they reached the catwalk, Maier's creative impulses had been well and truly sublimated. A casual overview might suggest that relatively conventional two-piece tailoring ruled (even if the suits were crumpled). Still, a residue of the Great Elsewhere lingered in the unplaceability of a number of the clothes, neither Middle East nor Midwest, but with an undertow of both. The buttoned-up-tight mandarin-collared jackets and matching pants had a military mien—add sunglasses, a general's cap, and a hundred kilos, and you'd have yourself a best-dressed dictator. That control was contrasted with a shopping list of fabric treatments: washing, creasing, over-printing, over-dyeing, dip-dyeing. Checks were bleared like they'd been hand-blocked. A tweed was really a printed cotton. Just a fashion illusion, but here it poked as much as it pleased.

Moncler Gamme Bleu Fall/Winter 2011-2012 -- The Royal Dog Show

Matthew Schneier review

One of the favorite guessing games of Milan fashion week involves Thom Browne and what kind of spectacle he might be preparing for his always-elaborate Moncler Gamme Bleu show. Last season, it was bicyclists at the Velodrome; the one before, in Florence, a barracks full of slumbering soldiers. This time around, the designer laid the scene at Centro Ippico Lombardo, a horse track a ways out of town.

At trumpet's call, five horsemen, in long red Moncler riding coats bearing the Browne tricolor stripe, trotted out to greet the chilly crowd. And then came the guys on foot, each trailing a reluctant beagle or two. The hunt gave Thom his juice. Cue jodhpurs, high boots, saddlebags, and puffer parkas stitched with shooting patches.

Burberry Prorsum Fall/Winter 2011-2012 Menswear

Approaching the fall/winter 2011-2012 season with endless color and exaggerated proportions, Burberry Chief Creative Officer Christopher Bailey looked to a coat for all seasons. Creating his very own weather boy, Bailey’s outerwear stole the show as usual. Embracing the unexpected, the 60′s provided the inspiration for slick raincoats, quilted finishes and a rainbow of checks. Gathering pleats and reworking tweed, Bailey once again delivered an easily cool showing for a timeless label.

Dolce & Gabbana Fall/Winter 2011-2012 - RED LOOKS

Embracing fiery red and rich furs for their fall/winter 2011-2012 collection, Dolce & Gabbana infused their prized Italian machismo with a youthful zest. Shaking up their usual casting with a variety of faces, the designing duo put on display a myriad of influences. From the classic musical styling of Bryan Ferry to the label’s ongoing fascination with the working man or a spunky take on tomorrow’s scholar, Dolce & Gabbana impressed with velvet, color and an endless amount of charm. Rounding out the collection with pinstripes, braces and wingtips, the label put a cool new spin on the marriage of old and new style motifs.

Ermenegildo Zegna Fall/Winter 2011-2012

Layered with tender love and care, Ermenegildo Zegna’s man made a sound impression with the house’s signature strength in craftsmanship. Piecing together tweed and houndstooth, tradition met the combative nature of the future with fitted looks, complete with belted holsters. No doubt outfitting fall’s hero, orange, red and burgundy added a pleasant touch to fantastically belted numbers that felt altogether masculine, while resonating a soft quality to be admired.

Costume National Fall/Winter 2011-2012

I love the second combination...
Looking ahead to fall/winter 2011-2012, Costume National masters the beauty of simplicity. Honing in on suiting, outerwear and fine knits, the label turns out a dark wardrobe with autumn hued accents for an accessible yet chic approach to the new season. Altogether, while dynamic tailoring made for a striking uniform of suits, knits of mohair added the special final touch, highlighting stripes and irregular shapes for a distinctive collection trademark come next fall.

Prada Spring Summer 2011 Mens Shoes, Bags And Accessories

Miuccia Prada has a warp and often very different sense of what she wants to portray in her collections. This is what make her work so unique and fascinating against other designers. For Spring Summer 2011, Miuccia focuses on her concept of youth, as in young men in years of college varsity and interns in healthcare. Hospital looking garbs, huge 'varsity' inspired bags/pouches with personalised alphabets are matched with some of the weirdest looking shoes. Ronald McDonald will now be an even happier clown. Classic brogues are given a twist and turned into creeper style shoes with ultra thick soles and given lego block colours! Is this Miuccia Prada's version of 'male platforms'?!?!? I love it for the quirk and fun of the designs, very bold and indifferent. Can't wait to try on a pair when they hit the stores next year.
