Spring/Summer 2011 Men's Fashion Trends - The Biker Jacket

Perhaps the biggest factor is the ageing of looks from previous seasons, in particular the military trend. This trend has been with us for the last couple of years now, with varying degrees of popularity, but during A/W10 it reached its peak, the market is now saturated with trench coats, nautically inspired knitwear, t-shirts, military boots and all manner of accessories, and is now beginning to become very thinly spread and over worked. This is certainly not to say that these items have now become unfashionable, rather it is time for change. Hold on to your military inspired items (particularly if you own a camel trench coat – a fine purchase) however, as they will remain completely timeless and transitional in the future, and set you in good stead for this new look, saving you time, money and effort. Although Bess NYC is known for incorporating gold toned studs into their clothing, it appears they’ve taken this concept to the next level with their Perfecto Gold Studded Leather Biker Jacket ($2,050). This black leather jacket has a vintage design with shoulder epaulets, and gold metal studs on the collar and shoulder sleeves. Star Style - Orlando Bloom

Orlando Bloom was seen out in Paris with his pregnant wife Miranda Kerr wearing a biker jacket, grey Dior jeans, and a pair of Balenciaga sneakers in brown suede ($525 seen below in black and white leather) with a gum bottom. This is the first time I’ve seen this colorway and I wonder if it’s a store exclusive.

James Long 2011 Spring/Summer Collection

Designer James Long brings out the oil paints and knitting pins for his Spring/Summer 2011 Collection during London Fashion Week. Focusing on the knit trend which is big in menswear for next Spring, over sized silhouettes are complimented with cuffed shorts and rugged boots. Distressed sweaters with intricate cable knitting and large holes, leather biker vests with matching shorts were just a few of the standout looks on display. What sticks out the most in this collection is the designer’s sorbet color palette, which is a mixture of distorted paint splatters and psychedelic prints over garments. To give the collection some sanity, Long added solid jumpers in white and twin knit sets in navy.
